Res 3 is right. If you do not have any full-time job experience,it is almost impossible to get a landed immigrant visa under the Independent category. HOWEVER, if you’re doing your PhD or Master’s degree, and IF you have some experience as a research assistant, it may be counted toward your job experiences.
There are more than three ”daigakus” in Alberta if you count ”university colleges” like Augustana University College, Athabasca University, and so on :)

As for the tuition fees, the University of Alberta charges their foreign students almost 2.5 times that of Canadian students (undergraduate). It is currently at $10500 for an academic year (5 courses x 2 terms).

it is still low compared to other universities in Canada. Ontario, Quebec and maritime provinces cost more !
