There are many ways to ask this question - they are quite similar in meaning but have a different feeling to them.
1) You live in a dorm, don’t you? -
This is a negative tag question a positive statement with a negative question at the end. The feeling is that you are quite sure that the statement of the question is correct.90%sure.
2) Do you live in a dorm? This is a direct question and means that you really don’t know the answer.50% sure (maybe yes, maybe no).
3) Don’t you live in a dorm? This is a question that is confirming that you think that the person does live in a dorm. 75% sure.
In this case I think that the correct question for this is 3.
