My daughter and friends were at Tojo’s last week with a group. They were more than disappointed. They were angry about the slow and slipshod service, tiny portions and long gaps between plates. They were paying almost $300 a couple too. Daughter works as a manager in one of Vancouver’s top restaurants and she knows what is right and wrong.
Good things are said about:
Octopus Gardens - 1995 Cornwall
Vanya - 5615 Harold St. (small, reasonable $$)
Hiroshi’s - 3720 Oak St.
Sai Z - 3116 W. Broadway
Shiro - 3096 Cambie
One of the best dining experiences in town is Vij’s, 1480 West 11th. It is Indian cuisine taken to exotic heights. Reasonable value too and the owner Vikram Vij understands service like few other restaurateurs. No reservations. Go before 5:30 pm opening time or stand in line.
