What has Book-Off tried to do to attract non-Japanese customers?
As far as Japanese-interest, goes I don't think that there are enough Japanese people to sustain a big used book store in a prime location.
A small, privately owned and operated shop for used Japanese books, located in a cheap, yet reasonably accessible location, can easily serve all of Greater Vancouver, and "eat their lunch" of any Book Off type business which tries to open a large, brightly lit store in a prime location.
