It was estimated 760,000 Minke Whale in Antarctic Ocean, 149,000 in North Atlantic Ocean excluding Canadian East Coast, 25,000 in North West Pacific and Okhotsk Sea in 1990. Those are only Minke whales alone and there are 80 kinds of whale in the world. While Blue whale is decreasing in number, Minke whale is increasing in number.

Other nations such as Norway killed 1052 Whales in 2006 with no purpose just for their consumption, Denmark killed around 200 whales and US aboriginal killed around 200 whales in 2006, and Philippine and Indonesia killed 20-50 whales.
I think people should be more concerned about other sea creatures rather than whales. Overprotection of whale will disturb ecosystem because they eat tons of fish and they are the top of the food chain in ocean. Tuna is in demand all over the world and I do not want tuna to disappear from our table.
Accordint to this website,
http://www.icrwhale.org/eng-index.htm, Sea Shepherd vessel attacked Japanese ship. Moreover, even though Japanese crews saved the member who fell from the ship, the member from Sea Shepherd vessel had thrown kind of acid to the crews. How can Japanese crews trust and get help from those people who call themselves the peace keeper including people in Greenpeace?
No wonder that Nisshin Maru has problem after the attacks from Sea Shepherd vessel!!!
I feel for the crew member who died.
