Bev Oda - Minister of Canadian Heritage and Status of Women
Oda, who was first elected to the House of Commons in 2004 and served as heritage critic, is the MP for the Ontario riding of Durham.She has more than 25 years of experience in the Canadian
broadcasting industry. From 1987 to 1993, Oda served as a
full-time CRTC Commissioner. After leaving the CRTC, Oda became a senior executive in the private sector. Her first role in this capacity was as the Chair of the Harold Greenberg Fund.
In 1994, Oda became the Senior Vice President Programming
then Industry Affairs for the CTV Television Network. She has
served on a number of industry boards and also as the Vice-
Chair of a number of national and international industry organizations.After her retirement, she became a consultant on
multiculturalism, diversity, and broadcasting policies and
regulations. Oda served as the Co-Chair of a national Task
Force on Diversity on Canadian Television and, in 2003, was
inducted into the Canadian Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
