What if you could write a law? Or improve any existing law or policy?
What if you could influence any decision the government makes, about anything that’s important you, or that you know a lot about. You feel closely connected to the issue, but you’re not satisfied with the current situation. Based on your experiences or your expertise, you know what it takes to make the country better.
What would you do?
Canadians just elected a new federal government, and last week they arrived in Ottawa to get to work in 2016. Now, let’s set the tone for the next four years. Let’s show the new government we take democracy seriously, that we have good advice about the decisions affecting our lives, and that shaping our country’s future is not just their job, it’s our job too.
We can help. Starting your petition on Change.org gives you access you the best online organizing tools in the world to raise awareness, find and mobilize signers easily, communicate with your supporters and decision-makers, and run a successful campaign. Plus, a you’re tapping into a network of over 4 million potential supporters in Canada.

An Update from MLA Yamamoto
A Message from Naomi
Greetings!
There’s lots of good stuff in this month’s newsletter. Government is asking for your input on a number of initiatives. Give us your thoughts on how we can improve the Emergency Program Act or tell us what you would like to see in the new Climate Leadership Plan. You’ll also find an article about the Order of B.C., which recognizes remarkable accomplishments and efforts made by extraordinary British Columbians. Nominations are now open, follow the link in the article to nominate someone you know.
Here on the home front, the ground breaking ceremony was recently held for the new Polygon Art Gallery. Congratulations to the Polygon Gallery team for their great success. We are so fortunate to have a treasure like this in our community and I look forward to visiting the gallery when it opens in 2017. Congratulations also to BA Blacktop, recipients of the year’s Deputy Minister’s Contractor of the Year Award in the category of safety innovation.
The Fifth Session of the 40th Parliament will open on February 9, 2015 with the Speech from the Throne. We’ll be busy in the legislature until late May.
