How can I ever find a place to live as a new immigrant (VAN)?

I am typing this from the hotel I am staying at in Vancouver (so I cannot type in Japanese...)
I just landed and now looking for an apartment, but I am having a really hard time to find one as professionally managed apartments always require references, Canadian credit history, employment in Canada etc. Sure I have SIN now but I have none of above.
I have walked all over DT area (perhaps more than 15km) looking for vacancies. I could find some expensive 1BR vacancies but those were out of my budget, or had very steep requirments that I cannot meet as a new immigrant.
PLEASE give me some advice, I don’t mind spending some money to find an apartment (using agencies and such).

もうご存知かもしれませんが、craigslistや vancouver sunのサイト、あとはすむ場所によってUBC,SFU,BCIT等のHOUSINGのサイトでも探せますよ。(UBCは生徒しかみれないかもしれませんが。)

I got a job offer from a well-known Canadian company, and I got a lease from a professionally managed apartment with a help from the company after all.
