This is my case....
I extended my work permit without LMO’s result, but I enclosed my letter that my situation I haven’t gotten my LMO result from Service Canada, so I could get my implied status until I got my LMO’s result sending out. As long as you submit your extention of work permit documents to CIC before expiry of your current work permit, you will be a implied status, so until CIC gives you the result whether you get work permit or not, you are able to work.
I know many people applied two status such as visitor and work, and my friend who worked at Law office also suggested me to apply both status, but CIC officer told me that I only needed apply one status, so I didn’t apply more than one status.
I suggested you that you had better to call CIC. If you call early morning, it is easy to reach officer. Try to call after Tuesday!
Good luck....
