Visas following Marriage
If, following marriage to a Japanese citizen, a Canadian wishes to apply for a Japanese spousal visa, Japanese Immigration will require you to present a statement from the Embassy or the Canadian Consulate in Osaka (not/not available from Fukuoka or Nagoya) that you have informed us of your marriage. You should submit to the Embassy in Tokyo or Consulate in Osaka an original of your spouse¡Çs family register in which your marriage has been recorded together with the fee of $50 (or the yen equivalent). This may be done by mail, but in such a case, you should enquire with the Embassy or Consulate as to the prevailing yen rate. Payment by mail should be made in the form of a postal money order made payable to the Canadian Embassy or Canadian Consulate as applicable.
