JOB POSTING : GARDEN MAINTENANCE COORDINATOR
Langley Environmental Partners Society (LEPS) is seeking a Garden Maintenance Coordinator to maintain the Langley Demonstration Garden and the Langley Learning Farm, located at the Derek Doubleday Arboretum.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
• Gardening- Maintaining the plants, garden beds and compost bins, watering, weeding, pruning;
• Public Liaison- Greeting and assisting visitors; fielding questions from the public;
• Assistance- Providing assistance with garden education and outreach programs;
• Volunteer Management- Recruiting and supervising student interns and volunteers.
Qualifications:
Education and experience: Enrolled in or recently graduated from Post-Secondary studies in Horticulture, Environmental studies, or similar. Direct experience in landscape maintenance, sustainable gardening, and urban agriculture is a must.
Individual Qualities:
• Able bodied, enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and public speaking skills;
• Good organization skills, self-directed, work independently and as part of a team;
• Flexibility, willingness to learn and a good attitude are essential.
Criteria:
Applicants must be 15-30 years of age and meet Canada Summer Jobs criteria. Applicants must have a valid BC driver’s license. The successful candidate will be required to submit a clean driving record. All applicants MUST currently reside in Metro Vancouver/Fraser Valley to be considered for the position.
Term: June 1- September 3, 2021
Wage: $18.00 per hour / 36 hours per week
