We are a food manufacturing and distributing company and we are looking for someone to join our team in the Research & Development Department. The candidate will enjoy working with food and will have a desire to learn and grow with our company in a fast paced, results orientated setting.

■ Terms of Employment:
　Permanent (There is a 3 month probation period.)

■ Work hours:
　Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm

The candidate will have;
- Knowledge (experience or familiarity) with Japanese cuisine and flavours. Direct food cooking and preparation experience in a restaurant or meal producing environment will be an asset.
- Some understanding of food manufacturing process or a willingness to learn
- (working) Communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Japanese or a second language would be considered an asset.
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with Words, Excel, e-mailing, ability to learn company’s proprietary software
- Multi tasking, analytical skills, ability to work proactively and responsibly in an independent or a group setting

Main Job Duties will include;
- Developing of new products
o Including researching, assisting in procuring of some ingredients, hands on product and sample making, recipe making, HACCP plan, registering of product
o Liaison with other departments, other group company contacts, outside vendors as necessary

- Assisting in transferring new products from test phase to production phase
o Assist in fine tuning, trouble shooting production of newly developed products
o Updating, refining and modifying recipes, ingredients of existing products


In order to fulfill the above duties, the candidate will need to work both in the office and on production floor. Attention to detail and cleanliness, including cleaning and maintaining work area and test kitchen will be required. The candidate will need to produce reports, information sheets and communicate directly with management, as well as those employees on the production floor.

There is room to grow and the position can either be for a department supervisor or working under the present department staff, depending on experience and performance.

Remuneration - Standard procedures would be a 3 months probation period, followed by promotion (if acceptable) to full time with monthly salary w/ O/T, medical / dental benefits, sick pay benefits, bonus opportunities. Working in the factory in our processing, packing and boxing sections to gain experience and learn about our products and production is necessary in order to fill this position. Factory work will be a part of duties during probation. Please state your desired wage range and your status in Canada.
