Bilingual Japanese English speaking Marketing/Event Coordinator – Full Time position

LSI is an international lean consulting company that is experiencing rapid growth. Considered to be the most experienced and respected consulting company in Canada in the field of Lean management techniques and Toyota Way principles, LSI specializes in teaching Japanese business techniques and lean processes to companies in Canada, the US, Asia and Europe. Our list of clients ranges from small, to mid-size companies to large corporations and Fortune 500 companies. We are one of the few companies in North America with coaches who have direct roots and true lean implementation experience from Japan. We provide consulting and training at numerous locations throughout the world.

LSI is preparing to launch new initiatives and programs, and has an opening for a new full-time position of Marketing/Event Coordinator.

The ideal candidate will have work experience in managing marketing or event planning. Fluency in written as well as spoken English and Japanese speaking ability is necessary. A solid working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint is a requirement. We are looking for an outgoing, customer-oriented individual who enjoys planning corporate events, networking with clients, and managing seminars and workshops both locally and in international locations.

Requirements:

The Marketing/Event Coordinator is responsible for managing the planning and logistics for our training and executive programs. Responsibilities include communicating with participants as well as potential clients, the scheduling and advertising of events, conducting some internet-based research, coordinating mailings, updating our website, making and overseeing the arrangements for catering, hotels and transportation and ordering supplies.

The Marketing/Event coordinator will work with small to large-sized companies from a wide variety of manufacturing and service industries. She/he will also work in conjunction with our finance department to co-ordinate billings and payments and with our coaches to prepare workshop materials.

This position is a high-volume, fast-paced position with multiple events being coordinated simultaneously, often under tight pressure and deadlines. The coordinator also provides administrative support to the president and our coaches. This support includes managing calendars, responding to email inquiries and performing other special projects as needed.

A university/ college degree or equivalent experience; including responsibility for Marketing/Event planning and scheduling; 2-4 years office or related experience, fluency and accuracy in written and spoken English; excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate professionally; strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail; ability to take initiative, to work with competing priorities under tight deadlines and to work both independently and as part of a team; ability to maintain confidentiality; strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Power Point; experience in web editing and movie maker software would be an asset.

Details of the responsibilities include:
- assisting the company president with daily administrative tasks and details
- assisting with the setup and preparation of conferences, seminars and meetings
- corresponding with corporate clients and vendors in both English and Japanese
- working with hotels, restaurants and venue sites to plan conferences
- general marketing support during the sessions
- some client management
- assisting instructors and coaches in administrative tasks
- some development of workshop content and materials in PowerPoint, Word and Excel

Compensation will be based on your work experience and qualifications.
Most of our workshop sessions are conducted in English but Japanese will be used when conducting projects in Japan or corresponding with Japanese companies.

Position: Full Time Marketing/Event Coordinator

Requirements: Bilingual (Japanese and English); being able to speak, write and read English and Japanese fluently is essential

Education: University or College Degree

Experience: Two to Four years minimum of marketing/event management experience, including specific experience as an event planner or admin/office assistant, ideally in a consulting or event planning industry.

Status in Canada: Permanent Resident of Canada or appropriate work permit – you must be able to work in Canada

Having a driver’s license is preferred.

- Compensation will depend on your qualifications and will be discussed at the interview, but generally LSI pays above industry average.
