Hello my name is Derek, I am finding it finding it hard to make good long-term Japanese friends in Vancouver. I am a Canadian Chinese guy who worked in Kumamoto City as an English teacher for children for 1 year. I’ve met a few Japanese people(men and women) in Vancouver but they are mostly too busy because of school or work to meet on a regular basis to hang out. I believe that one of the keys to having a friend for years and years is to spend time together. I hope we can start our friendship by simply having coffee and talking about some interesting topics such as travel, the environment, relationships, pets or anything you want. Later we can watch a movie, go to a hockey game, snowboard, ice-skate or go out for Canadian food.
