Tip:

Resume grammar is different from normal English, because you write a lot of sentences that do not have a subject. (Like Japanese). This is because the subject is usually "I".

Responsibilities included drinking with boss at the nearby izakaya five nights a week, filing lengthy reports, attending numerous meetings, and gossiping about which coworkers might be sleeping together. Produced numerous photocopies, at various magnification factors, collation and binding styles, both black and white as well as colour.


We do not have to say "My responsibilities" or "I produced". The subject is understood, similarly to Japanese. If you do not omit the subject, you end up with every sentence starting with "I" or "My" which looks egotistical.

Actually this is not really a special form of English, because in ordinary English we can omit subjects. For example, this is perfectly good:

"Woke up this morning at, like, 9:30. Made some eggs for breakfast. Then showered, dressed and hit the door. Got to work late, and had to listen to shit from the boss, second time in as many weeks."

"Was it Susan who called?" "Yup." "Knew it!" (Instead of "I knew it!")
