Hello English students!
- This is something very different and exciting, and FREE :-)
- My name is David, I am experienced English teacher, and I am
offering FREE English classes, using movies, to up to 18 ESL students who
are serious about improving their English speaking and listening
skills.
- The 18 people will be in six groups of three each.
- Why am I doing this for free? I am doing an experiment, working out
new and better ways - and MORE FUN WAYS - for ESL students to improve their
English.
- Here are the details:
* The classes are 1.5 hours long.
* Each student is invited to attend two to three classes each week. If
you can only come to one, that is fine too.
* The classes are at my house, which is five minutes walk from
Joyce-Collingwood SkyTrain station.
* There are three students in each class. The room is very comfortable
and we offer tea, coffee, cold drinks and snacks free too. If there is
only one or two students in each group in the beginning, that is fine
too.
* The movies or TV shows we choose depend on WHAT YOU WANT, and your
level. Some of the choices include LOST, Toy Story 3, "Spanglish" and
"Couples Retreat."
* There are classes for three levels - advanced, intermediate and
beginner. (No matter how good or bad your English, there is something
for you).
* The times of the classes are:
- Monday to Friday:
* 5 to 6:30pm.
* 6:45 to 8:15pm.
- Saturdays:
* 2 to 3:30pm.
* 4 to 5:30pm.
* 6 to 7:30pm.
- Please call or send a text message to: 604-729-9569.
- I will meet all students at the Joyce-Collingwood Skytrain station
and show you to the house. The address is 5123 Aberdeen Street,
Vancouver, if you want to see where it is on a map.
* I have taught ESL for 11 years - three years in Korea, four in
Taiwan, one in Vietnam and three in Canada. I have also visited Japan
and taught many Japanese students.
Hope to meet you soon. David.

*−can we use として like this, to frame a reference to a person's past state or role? In English, this usage of "as" is possible: "He started playing in clubs as a 16 year old boy." This means "when he was 16", not "pretending to be 16". But perhaps として doesn't support this usage.
