Of the four parts of the Test of English as a Foreign Language exam students worry most about the Writing Section. The good news is that, with the right kind of focused preparation, you can improve your chances considerably. The TOEFL Essay Clinic provides that preparation.
In one-on-one sessions we analyze your essay, pinpoint weaknesses, and let you practice correcting them. The test is not quite so difficult once you know what you have to do. Different kinds of questions need different kinds of answers and we show you what the examiners want and how to avoid common mistakes.
The TOEFL Essay Clinic doesn’t have a physical office. It works online, using Google Docs and Skype to share what you write and provide human contact. Nor does it have a set course of a number of lessons. Instead, students submit an essay which is critiqued at the first session. Further sessions, at $50 for fifty minutes, are scheduled as needed--and at your convenience.
The instructor, Michael C. Boxall, has a B.A. in English, an M.A. in communications and a Royal Society of Arts certificate in teaching English as a foreign language. From 1997 to 2010 he taught essay writing in Simon Fraser University’s Writing and Publishing program.
