Experienced TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, conversation, grammar, writing, reading teacher
by Maple Tutor from バンクーバー 2010/06/18 23:43:12

Hello,
I have over five years experience teaching in Japan and Canada. I can teach all levels including beginners. I will help you improve your TOEFL/TOEIC/IELTS score, conversation skills, grammar, writing, critical reading skills and pronunciation.

Below is a writing sample:

For some, teaching is a calling and more than just a regular day job. For others, it is a way to support their interests and activities outside of the workplace. Whether a good teacher falls into one category or the other, most of them have confidence in their teaching abilities gained from training and experience. They are enthusiastic and effective communicators. They are team players capable of both leadership and assisting others. Being highly organized and professional, effective educators possess all of these traits and are capable of leading a class in a manner that enables students to fulfill their potentials.
Teachers’ confidence comes from having sound fundamentals in teaching methods and excellent command of the material being taught. Classes run more smoothly with a confident teacher and with more breathing space, the teacher is able to provide additional assistance to students on a one-to-one basis, which in turn makes the class run even more smoothly as all students are able to comprehend the learning material. In addition, when poorly performing students have a major impact on the entire class, a confident teacher can lessen or completely eliminate this impediment. This is accomplished by boosting the marginal students’ self-assurance through step-by-step improvement of their knowledge and skill acquisition. Experienced teachers will be better poised in this regard.
Enthusiasm is important because not every student is eager to spend hours studying every day. Teachers who are genuinely enthusiastic about their students find it easier to be enthusiastic about the learning materials and in the learning process. This excitement climaxes at the point when students’ eyes light up as they gain understanding of the lesson. A teacher needs excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey this passion to students, other teachers, parents and school staff in a way that is easily understood.
Being a team player is vital for teachers when resources need to be shared and students see different subject teachers. When appropriate, applying the team principle to a class can be effective in enhancing the learning process; furthermore it can curb bullying behavior among students.
Organization skills and professionalism are required for advance lesson planning and for the maintenance of a positive work and learning environment. The two go hand in hand since disorganization leads to anxiety, which can create communication problems between teachers and staff. A well prepared teacher can adjust lesson plans on a whim to meet the needs of particular classes or students and cover for teachers who are absent.
The characteristics described above work in synergy. Improving one will have a positive effect on others. Increased confidence will lead to higher enthusiasm levels. Coincidentally, becoming more organized and professional will improve teamwork within the organization. In contrast, a decline in any one capability will have a negative effect on a teacher’s performance that can quickly turn into a landslide if measures are not taken to stop and reverse the damage. Hence, constant improvement is a wise philosophy for teachers to follow in their approach to the profession.
