英語が下手な私には複雑すぎて、訳せません。
教えてください！

仮説系というか、。。。。。

ＢＴＷ, if you are going to use "challenge", I would add something like "I would like to see him challenge the horror genre".

"Challenging a horror film" sounds like a bunch of old ladies that dont like it demonstrating outside a movie theatre.

That’s true. I always get confused when i use the word
challenge to mean "venture into" and "oppose (sort of)."

Yeah, I can see how it would be tricky.

To be fair to your use above, I have noticed students and such (i.e. younger Canadians) using challenge to mean something rather exciting which will require some extra effort, which seems to jibe well with the use in Japanese.

例：

"Oh, don’t complain so much. Try it, it will be a good challenge for you."

But I think we both know what I think of a lot of newer Canadian usage...... ;)

I would tend to use it to mean "oppose", I think, and I think most educated people my age would as well.

To wit, 例：

"I got that job done, but it was a bit of a challenge, to be honest."

The meaning there is probably closer to the first meaning ("to venture into"), but I would also argue that it conveys a sense that the speaker was not particularly happy with the difficulties presented in completing the task, and so that would also include the idea of a challenge presented.

Now that you mention it, that is a hard one. I had never really thought about it before. Good one.

Having said that he is a well-known moviemaker in the field of suspense and adventure.

It’s gramamtical, but I would say it’s not very natural in some parts.

1) we don’t really use "desire" to express desire. We just say "want to", or, more politely, "would like to".

It’s the same way you rarely hear Canadians say "delicious" where Japanese might say 美味しい。　We just say "that’s good", or "it’s good", or "it tastes good".

Also, I would suggest making one sentence, rather than 2 short ones.

BUT, it was a very good effort. The meaning is certainly clear, and that’s really the most important part.

Learning the softer parts (i.e. sounding natural) really does take a lot of work, after all.

That’s why my Japanese still sounds like it came out of a dictionary half the time........ ;)
