I think from a sociological perspective we are witnessing here an incident of Japanese bullying syndrome, or "ijime".

I have read through this thread from start to finish, and, in my opinion, in no way whatsoever does "Tom" deserve to be told that he should "die"; be called a "baka gaijin"; "aho"; or to be the recepient of any kind of degradation.

It appears that out of the fifty-some responses to Tom’s posting the overwhelming majority of them are indeed racist and extremely virulent by nature. I don’t believe this is called for considering the content of the original ad.

Truthfully, it scares me to see a phenomenon such as this taking place so close to home.

I have also taken time to peruse through other threads on this site and have been astounded at the blatant racism directed towards foreigners in general, but especially aimed at those of Korean ancestry.
