1) A new born baby (female) "in our life" would be used when 2 people who are together by marriage/common-law/generally together in a relationship "my" would refer to an individual who would be single/out of a relationship with baby; Usually, if the person you’re speaking with knows your partner/wife etc then you would say "our", if they do not know your partner would typically say "my"
2) A new pet (female) such as a dog or cat that you acquire
3) An object such as a car (less common), e.g. Tom bought a new car and he wanted to introduce his new girl to his friends
4) Occassionally used in the same way as female friend.
5) Can refer to a new girlfriend.
6) Could refer to someone that is more than a friend but not as strong as a girlfriend type relationship. This could be used by some people who are "Playboys" but does not necessarily have to be.
7) A way of describing a replacement to a previous girlfriend/partner etc. e.g. Tom’s friends asked what he had been doing lately and if he had gotten over his previous girlfriend. Tom held up the bottle of beer and said, "say hello to the new girl in my life."
