この違いがあいまいに感じて、(同時に，も使用する場合)きちんとした使い分けが出来ていません。熟知している方、お願いします。

今のところは・・・
「：」は、リストをあげる時に使っています。短い単語を繋げる時のみ。
でも、長めの言葉だったり途中に「，」がある場合は「；」で区切らなくちゃいけないんですよね。
通常は、「；」はＳ＋Ｖを含む文章を区切る時に使うんですよね？

それ以外に何かありましたら、助言をお願いします。

例文：

残念ながら、上のウェブサイトの内容は既にESL時代に勉強を済ませたものでした。。
その内容の更に上のレベルの複雑な文章の場合はどうなるのかな？と思いまして。

上記の3つの例文に似た文章も見つけられませんでした。
：と；についての本も持っているんですが、意味自体が多義なので、ちょっと。。
なので、もし上の例文でおかしい部分があれば指摘して頂きたいです。
