友達に、遊びに行くお勧めの場所を教えて貰い、「教えてくれてありがとう。私の好みの場所だと思う。」といいたいのですが、この場合
those places sound like my type of place. と言う事は出来ますか?　typeは異性に対する、タイプ、という意味のみでしか使えませんか？
この文自体、まったく自信が無いので正しい言い方を教えて頂けたら嬉しいです。

You can use the word "type" in your sentence but "kind of place" sounds more natural as #2 says above.

You may say...
"The places you told me sound really good because I used to go places like that. Thanks for the information"
