What we do in French is testing your teacher background (level ). Try it in English too it works . You can even use the Internet .Check your teacher /tutor grammar level , vocabulary and the most important history ( including your own country )and general culture . Have a meeting with follow students(friends) and prepare few questions . Or ask a professional teacher to help you make these questions .

Don’t be shy you are investing your money and you need to make a critical decision . Having a good pronuncitation does not make a you have a talent to be a good teacher .
