学生なのですが、宿題のエッセーの一文が間違っている気がするのであってるか教えてください。

状況としては、
今、母国の先生に書いているメールでの一文
カナダに住んだのは去年 今はそこには住んでいない
住んでいた去年のその時に最高の経験だと思った（思ったのは、今ではない）

I thought living in Canada was best experience in my life last year. However と続き、今住んでいる国のほうがもっといい、みたいに続きます。

まず、living がおかしいと思います。
あと、last yearを入れる場所がわかりません。

英語力のある方、正しい英文を教えてください。
よろしくお願いします。

私は去年カナダに住むのが最高の経験だと思っていたが、OO国に住んでその意見が変わった。
（今年はそう思っていない）という意味では？

I thought...っていう言い方自体使われません。言うとすればI think...だと思いますが。
シンプルに
Living in Canada last year was one of the best experiences in my entire life.
でいいと思います。

Res3さんの場合だと、今でもそう思っているって意味になりますよ。

とぴ主さんの場合は、以前はそう思っていたけど、今はそう思っていない（今いる場所が一番に変わった？）ということを言いたいのだから、I thought でいいと思います。

I thought living in Canada last year was the best experience of my life; however,.... かな。

Res4です。I used to think... のほうがいいかな？

I can't believe I could have a better experience than one I had had in Canada last year.

↑ "still consider it" is wrong in this context. The original Japanese says that the person used to think the experience was the best but not anymore.

最初のWhile I was in CanadaのCanadaが次の文でリピートされるのを避けたい場合は、Vancouverとか住んでいた市名をあげ、次の文ではCanadaにすると、言いたい意味が解りやすく相手に伝わると思います。要はVancouverでの生活を掲げているのではなく、Canada と日本を比較していると。

When I was in Vancouver (or "Canada", or "Toronto") last year, I thought my life in Canada (or "there" instead of "in Canada") was the best experience in my life. However, now I am in xxxxxxx (where you are now), I realize .......... とか　I find .....で今の気持ちの文を作ればいいと思います。

I lived in Canada last year and at that time I thought I was having the best experience in my life. However...
