初めてラジオでこの曲聴いた時「ちょっといい曲かな〜」くらいに思ってたのに、歌詞良く聞いてみてがっかりした。
だって、街（地下鉄だけど）でかわいい女の子見かけて、「お〜マジかわいいやん！」って歌でしょ？彼女の事何も知らんのに、見かけだけで「綺麗や〜」って言ってるだけ。そりゃぁ、あんた"never be with you(her)”だわなぁ。街歩いてて、見も知らぬ男にこんな風に思われてたら普通に気持ち悪いよ。

歌を聴くとき、私にとっては歌詞もすっごく重要なんです（メロディーが平凡でも歌詞が良いと、ぐっと胸に来る）。
なので、これ私にとっては中身の無い歌なんだよね。
すいません、この曲好きな方もいるんでしょうが、まぁ好みは人それぞれということで。メロディーは普通に聞きやすいと思います。 　

この曲は色々な解釈ができると思いますが、
どうもこの主人公はこれから自殺をしようとしているらしいです。
ビデオクリップでは、この歌手が入水自殺の準備をしていて、
最後は海に飛び込んでいます。

訳あって自ら命を絶とうと決心し地下鉄に乗った彼は、
そこで偶然美しい女の人を見かけます。
その人は彼氏(夫？)と一緒だったが、彼に微笑みかけてくれた。
彼女とすばらしい一瞬を共有できた。
でも現実は、自分はこれから死にゆく身。彼女と結ばれることなんてありえない。

…そういうとても悲しい歌なんだと思います。

８行目の’Cause I’ve got a plan. の"plan"とは、自殺のことだと考えられます。
