Oprah Asked To Trash Canadian Immigration

Undiscovered rapper Slickfordays has a new trick up his sleeve to keep his lawsuit against Immigration Canada crackling--Oprah. The talk queen is one of over a dozen celebrities to be subpoenaed by Slickfordays, a.k.a. Jerome Almon, in his longstanding suit that alleges racial profiling at the Canadian border. Jerome’s been stopped at the border 117 out of 120 times, he claims, while trying to come to Canada to do business for his label MurderCap Records. His criminal record is clean of convictions although he’s been arrested twice. Jerome is suing for $900 million.

Oprah, he claims, will testify about her experiences being harassed by the Canadian border. As for white folks, he’s subpoenaed Paris Hilton, Martha Stewart, Tom Sizemore and Heidi Fleiss to testify that their experience crossing the Canadian border has been a dream despite having served prison time. Others subpoenaed in the case include Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, DMX, Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Canada’s old enemy 50 Cent. A judge will determine whether the testimony of these high-profile figures is required or if maybe, just maybe, they can have the trial without involving the U.S. secretary of state. On his group’s My Space page, the first entry in the "About Me" section is "banned from Canada for being ’too gangsta.’"

彼女は何もしてないよ。

これは、カナダ国境を越える時に、いっつも止められて怒っている黒人ラッパー（逮捕歴は2回あるけど有罪判決は下りたことはない）が、国境でこれだけの回数止められるのは、カナダ移民局の嫌がらせだと訴訟を起こしていて、それに勝つ手段のひとつとして、同じ黒人の有名人であるオプラに「カナダ国境での扱いが嫌がらせのようなものだった」と証言してもらおうとしているということ（だと思う。違ってたら誰か訂正してよ）。

話しは変わるけど、この記事は MSN から単にコピーしたもので、昨日もトピを立ててたよね。

誰も反応しないから、もう一度貼り付けたんだと思うけど、トピ主が、どうしてこのトピを問題にしたがってるのか不思議。自分の意見を書いたらどうよ？

個人的には、逮捕歴が2度もある人物（さして有名でもないギャングスターのようなラッパー）が何度も国境を行き来していたら、止められても文句は言えないと思うけど。。。「黒人だから」嫌がらせをされたと文句を言ってるみたいだけど、移民局は犯罪を犯すかもしれないと感じる人をチェックするのが仕事なわけで、逮捕歴があったり、振る舞いが疑わしい悪いなどで一度データにひっかかって目を付けられたら、入国するたびに目を付けられるわけで、外国人として、外国に入るのであれば仕方のないことだと思う。

有罪判決を受けたことのある人でさえ、簡単に通してもらってる人もいる、と言っているみたいだけど、入国審査は、有罪判決のあるなしではなく、その人物そのもののが問題を起こすかどうか（何か犯罪組織に関係しているのではないか等）が一番の焦点なので、はっきり言って、このラッパーはそういう方面で疑われているわけでしょう。

そもそもカナダはアメリカとは違う国なんだから、審査があって当然だし、最終的には毎回入国させてもらえてるわけだから、個人的にはカナダ入管が悪いとは思わないな。

アメリカだって、911のすぐ後は、中東系だというだけで、ごく普通の人の入国審査が厳しくなって、人権問題にまで発展していたけれど、すべて自国を守るためにやっていること。

もちろん本人にとってみれば、有罪になったことがないのに犯罪者並みの扱いを受けた、と怒る気持ちはわかるけど、カナダに住む者としては、入管が怪しいと思ったにも関わらず、なぁなぁで簡単に入国させてしまうような入管のほうが怖い。

基本的に入管は、ある人物をその国に入れて大丈夫か、という国の安全に関わる判断を日々下していて、間違えれば、おそろしい犯罪組織やテロリストによって国が滅ぼされる可能性があるわけで、危険な人とそうでない人をスクリーニングするためには、ある程度厳しい質問があっても、それを「嫌がらせ」だとパーソナルに取るのはどうかなと思う。

アメリカ人って、カナダをまるで自国のように考えているのか知らないけど、外国に入るときに、そこの国が独自の判断をすることが当然ということをわかってないなぁと思う。
国によっては、男性の髪が長いだけで入国拒否されるようなところもあるんだから、外国人が外国に入るときに、自分の基準で判断してもらおえると思いこみ、そうでなかったから訴えるというのは少し判断が甘いと思う。
